So.

The kit says turn the mixture screws until lightly seated and then back out 3 turns. Well, I saw a guy on the zxforums and he has a 06 with the stage one kit...I know, different bikes now, but he said that the "3 turns out" were half turns and not full revolutions out.

Can anyone confirm for our bike? Is it suppose to be 3 full turns or 3 HALF turns?

that would be 3 full turns. it's pretty average to be around 2.5 turns out.

Three full turns. I have the Muzzy system, Dynojet 2153 kit too. The only variation that makes sense for the E is to put the needle kit three notches down from the top instead of four. Makes it run a touch leaner but I found it works much better in the hot weather.

Ok kool. I'm sitting at 2.5 turns out right now, and it feels like I lose a TON of power at 4 or 4500 RPM then it flies like a bat out of hell.

And the needles.
I started out at dynojets recommendations, but at 4 notches down I lost power at around 10k. Notched it up one more and I pull all the way to redline now.
But then again it's like 50 degrees out average right now. Might have to make some adjustments when it warms up.

dont shoot the new guy here, my needles are at the 4th notch and i have mine turned out 1.75 turns...runs like a raped ape, lol...i saw somewhere that our bikes were 3 turns out, for some reason that didnt work for me...so i turned them in and started over, 1.75 turns out works beautifully...just my 2 cents

Welcome new guy! No need to shoot. Each machine will require adjustment to run it's best. That's why the kits are adjustable. You've found settings that work for you, so they are the right ones for you and your machine. wink2.gif

Are you running stock exhaust?

Mine is going to end up being 2.75 turns out give or take a hair one way or the other. Mine did the same at 3 turns out, idling at operating temperature (fan cutting and out for cooling) upon opening the throttle, instant bog.

At 2.5 turns out, there is power loss between 3k and 5k rpm. upon hitting 5.5k rpm it runs like a bat out of hell. Feels like really bad turbo lag.

Next week when I get my transmission parts in I'll be cleaning the carbs and adjusting the mixture screws to 2.75 turns. The week following my bike being done I'll be taking it to a local performance shop to get it on the dyno, see what power it's putting out and if I'm running lean or ritch etc..

I have a question about my the notches on my jet kit. Although mine is a factory pro jet kit, it should still be similar I would assume. I put the e-clip on the notch farthest from the needle and put three washers underneath in(I believe thats how the directions were stating it) Did I do this right, or should I move the clip down to another notch? With the jet kit installed it pulls nice through the entire rev range but I believe I lost power. Before I could power up some small wheelies if I snapped the throttle at the right time. Now its very hard to get it to pull up. I haven't been to the dragstrip with it yet so thats my best comparison of power up till now.

What should I do?

If you fill out the midrange, it can be harder to wheelie it because you've smoothed out the torque curve. Basically, a wheelie can be assisted by the "hit" of the power. Not sure if that's your problem. If you've got adjustable clips, you don't need to put washers under the clip on the needle, you can just move the clip down.

Each jet kit is different, contact factory pro and ask them what the baseline settings should be.

IIRC the it said use a clip and three or four shims under it, and thats what I did. That seemed odd as they were adjustable, but I just followed the directions. It revs a nice bit better, and doesn't fall off before redline like before, but it still feels like it lacking.
